John Deere Model G

The John Deere Model G, introduced in 1937, was the largest and most powerful of Deere's two-cylinder row-crop tractors, built to pull three 14-inch plows for larger farms. Its 412.5-cubic-inch two-cylinder engine made it a favorite among grain and row-crop growers who needed more muscle than the Model A could provide. Restyled with Henry Dreyfuss bodywork in 1942 and briefly redesignated the GM during the war, the styled G gained a six-speed transmission and was tested at Nebraska producing about 34 drawbar and 38 belt horsepower.
