The Case SC was a widely popular row-crop tractor produced from 1941 to 1954, with nearly 59,000 units built at Case's Racine, Wisconsin plant. Originally offered with distillate or gasoline engines, it received a larger 165 cubic-inch gasoline engine in 1953 that pushed Nebraska-tested output to roughly 28 drawbar and 32 belt horsepower. Its long production run, simple mechanicals, and adaptability to row-crop, orchard, and industrial configurations made it one of Case's most successful mid-century models.

History

Launched in 1941, the SC was part of Case's redesigned S Series that shared the streamlined "Flambeau Red" styling introduced across the brand's lineup in the late 1930s. Positioned as a versatile mid-size row-crop tractor, it competed directly with the Farmall M and John Deere A/B for family-farm customers who needed more capability than a small utility tractor but less than a full-size standard-tread machine.

Over its thirteen-year run the SC was offered in distillate, gasoline, and "tractor fuel" (low-compression) variants to suit different regions and fuel availability, and it was built in row-crop (SC), orchard (SO), industrial (SI), and high-clearance (SV) configurations. A significant engine upgrade arrived in 1953, when Case introduced larger-displacement gasoline and tractor-fuel engines that meaningfully boosted output, as reflected in Nebraska Tests 496 and 497. The SC's combination of durability and broad adaptability helped it become one of the best-selling Case tractors of its era.
