Jerome Increase Case founded the company in 1842 to build threshing machines, relocating to Racine, Wisconsin, where it grew into one of America's leading steam traction engine and threshing machine builders by the late 19th century. Under the "Old Abe" eagle logo, Case became a major farm tractor manufacturer through the 20th century. In 1985 Tenneco merged Case with the agricultural equipment division of International Harvester to form Case IH, and Racine remains the brand's headquarters today under parent company CNH Industrial.
