Allis-Chalmers

Allis-Chalmers WD-45

Row-crop tractor · 1953–1957 · Gasoline

The Allis-Chalmers WD-45 pushed the WD series into the four-plow power class, answering rivals John Deere and International Harvester's move to bigger row-crop tractors in the early 1950s. It was the first Allis-Chalmers tractor to offer both a diesel engine option and power steering. Its proprietary Snap-Coupler quick-attach hitch made implement changes fast, though its incompatibility with the industry's later three-point standard would prove a long-term disadvantage.
