Minneapolis-Moline was formed in 1929 by the merger of Minneapolis Steel & Machinery (maker of Twin City tractors), Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company, and Moline Plow Company, briefly making it the fifth-largest farm equipment maker in the United States. The company was an early innovator in diesel farm tractors and in 1938 introduced the UDLX "Comfortractor," one of the first enclosed-cab tractors built for both road and field use. White Motor Corporation acquired Minneapolis-Moline in 1963, and the brand name was phased out in the early 1970s as production was folded into White Farm Equipment.
